Prince Khalid Al-Faisal Launches Moderation Award & Web Portal

A newly created website portal for “Prince Khalid Al-Faisal’s Center for Moderation” was launched today by Prince Khalid Al-Faisal, Custodian of the two Holy Mosques’ Consular and Governor of Makkah.  The event, which took place at the Makkah Governorate, was attended by KAU President Prof. Abdul-Rahman Obaid Al-Youbi; and KAU Vice President for Graduate Studies & Scientific Research Prof. Yusuf Al-Turki; as well as a number of Faculty Deans and the Center’s leadership.

Prince Khalid Al-Faisal had decided to transform KAU’s Prince Khalid Al-Faisal Chair for Moderation into a “Center for Moderation” that will devote all its activities and efforts to the institutionalization of the Saudi moderation approach in order to prove to the entire world that Islam is a religion for all times and places, as it preaches moderation and rejects terrorism, tyranny and despotism.

On this occasion, Prince Khalid Al-Faisal announced the acceptance of nominations for his Center for Moderation’s Award in its first year.  Details about the Award which has 12 categories can be obtained from the Center’s website: PKCFM.KAU.EDU.SA

The Center is expected to expand the efforts initiated by KAU’s Prince Khalid Al-Faisal Chair in consolidating the Kingdom’s moderation approach and spreading the culture of Saudi moderation in all fields.  Furthermore, the Center will educate youth about the dangers of ideological extremism and its dire impact on national affiliation.  It will also promote national unity and safeguard the Kingdom’s social fabric – at a time when youth all over the world are being exposed over the Internet to numerous attempts by terrorists and extremists to recruit them, gain their support, and incite them to violence.
